Present in the extreme north India, in Ladakh close to the Indus Valley, lays the city of Leh at some 3,515 meters approximately 11 thousand feet above sea level. This isolated spot has presently become a well-liked tourist destination ever since Ladakh was opened to the people from different countries some three and half decades ago. It's the most fine-looking and most frequent entry spot to the Ladakh district.

Getting to Leh:

In the middle of the city, on summit of a sharp mountain, more than 800 year old Kali Mandir has a mesmerizing compilation of masks.

Leh Adventure Activities:
The lovers of nature and adventure seekers will come across exceptional and outstanding rock climbing and para gliding chances around Leh. There are furthermore many long trekking trails to make a choice from, like the ones from Likir to Temisgam, and Markha Valley from Spituk. Water rafting is also probable in July and August down the Indus River in the Leh region and also in Shayok River in the Nubra Valley, Zanskar's River in Zanskar. There are camel safaris also available in Nubra Valley.
Leh Festivals:
The Ladakh Festival takes place in the beginning of September. It is inaugurates in Leh with a fabulous parade all around the lanes. Villagers are dressed in customary costumes dance and sing folk songs along with live orchestra. The festival also stages musical shows, dances carried out by masked lamas from chosen monasteries, and mock customary wedding ceremonies.

Important Tips while traveling to Leh:
Be certain that you have adequate time to get used to the climate after reaching Leh because of the sickness you feel because of the height. Evade from doing everything for the initial couple of days and have ample of water.
